What changes the price

  • Quantity: an ounce costs less per gram than eighths. Bulk buying is the biggest saving.
  • Grade: AAAA flower, with dense, well-trimmed buds, costs more than AAA or shake.
  • Format: per gram, vapes and concentrates cost more than flower but contain much more THC.
  • Extraction: solventless rosin costs more than solvent-made resin or shatter.
  • Where you buy: prices vary by province and store.

Compare price per gram, then per mg of THC

To compare fairly, divide the price by the grams. To go further, divide by the THC: a $30 gram of shatter at 80% THC holds about 800 mg of THC, far more than a $8 gram of flower at 25% (about 250 mg).

How much is a weed pen?

A 1 g cartridge typically costs $30 to $70 in Ontario’s listings, plus a 510 battery bought once. Disposables cost more per gram because the battery is built in. See Disposable vape vs cartridge.
