THC diamonds are crystals of nearly pure THCA that form when a cannabis extract is left to separate. They’re among the strongest concentrates you can buy. They’re usually sold sitting in a terpene-rich liquid called sauce, which carries the flavour.
| What they are | Crystallised THCA, the raw form of THC |
|---|---|
| Made from | Live resin or other hydrocarbon extract, left to crystallise |
| Texture | Hard, clear-to-white crystals, from grains to large rocks |
| Strength | Often tests above 90% THCA |
| Usually sold as | Diamonds and sauce, dry diamonds, or melted into liquid diamonds for carts |
THCA diamonds or THC diamonds?
They’re the same product. The crystals are THCA, which doesn’t produce a high on its own. Heat converts THCA into THC; this is called decarboxylation. When you dab or vaporise diamonds, that conversion happens instantly. That’s why sellers and shoppers call them THC diamonds, THCA diamonds or weed diamonds.
How diamonds form
After extraction, the oil is sealed in a jar and left alone, sometimes for weeks. The THCA slowly comes out of solution and grows into crystals. What’s left around them is the sauce: the terpenes and other compounds. Makers then sell the two together, or separate them.
Diamonds and sauce vs dry diamonds
- Diamonds and sauce: crystals in their terpene liquid. Strong and flavourful.
- Dry diamonds: crystals with the sauce removed. The highest potency, with a milder taste.
- Liquid diamonds: crystals melted down and blended back into an oil for vape carts.
How people use them
The usual method is dabbing, from a rig or a dab pen. People also sprinkle a few small crystals over flower in a bowl or inside a joint. Diamonds melt fast, so start with a very small piece.
Common questions
Are diamonds the strongest concentrate?
By THC percentage, usually yes. Dry diamonds often test above 90% THCA, higher than most shatter, budder or cartridge oil.
Can you put diamonds in a joint?
Yes. Break the crystals into small grains and spread them through the flower so they burn evenly.
Do diamonds get you high without heat?
No. THCA needs heat to become THC, so diamonds have to be dabbed, vaped or smoked.
What’s the sauce in diamonds and sauce?
It’s the terpene-rich part of the extract left behind when the THCA crystallises. It carries most of the aroma and flavour.
