To make cannabutter, decarb your cannabis in the oven, simmer it gently in butter and water for 2 to 3 hours, strain it, and chill it so the butter separates from the water. You can then cook with it like regular butter, as long as you keep the heat moderate and measure it carefully, since it’s the dose.<\/p>\n

You’ll need:<\/strong> 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, 1 cup water, 3.5\u20137 g of decarbed flower, a saucepan or slow cooker, cheesecloth and a container.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cannabutter recipe<\/h2>\n

  1. Decarb<\/strong> the flower at about 115 \u00b0C (240 \u00b0F) for 30 to 45 minutes. See How to decarb weed<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Melt the butter with the water<\/strong> over low heat. The water stops the butter burning.<\/li>\n
  3. Add the decarbed flower<\/strong> and hold it at a bare simmer, around 70\u201390 \u00b0C (160\u2013200 \u00b0F), for 2 to 3 hours. Never let it boil.<\/li>\n
  4. Vari\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> through cheesecloth into a container. Press gently; squeezing hard adds a grassy taste.<\/li>\n
  5. Chill<\/strong> until the butter sets on top, then lift it off and pour away the water.<\/li>\n
  6. Label it<\/strong> with the date and your estimated strength.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These are upper limits: grams \u00d7 THC % \u00d7 1,000 \u00d7 0.877. Infusion always loses some. A single tablespoon can be far more than a starting dose, so cut it with regular butter.<\/p>\n
